THE LULLABY PROJECT
Let’s be quiet for a moment...
Brittain Ashford is a Brooklyn-based musician exploring the quiet moments of our times, taking solace and comfort in familiar melodies and simple songs. And she would like to sing you to sleep.
FINDING THE CALM
May I hold your hand while you drift off?
With The Lullaby Project, Brittain will carve out new songs for patrons as well as weave her silky touch with public domain melodies that have lingered in our collective memory. The series will be made available for all to take comfort in, a library of tunes that one can find on any given restless night.
"Delicate and defiant... the kind of husky ethereality that can stop you in your tracks."
—The New York Times
Brittain Ashford grew up in Seattle. Her early years spent in the shadow of grunge, she always preferred to err on the soft side.
After moving to New York she starred in the 2017 Broadway musical, Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, as well as Dave Malloy's Off-Broadway song-cycle, Ghost Quartet. She’s released two albums with her own band, Prairie Empire, a solo album of re-tooled show tunes called Drama Club, and most recently an EP with collaborator Matt Bauer, Day Inside a Night. Her forthcoming album, Trotter, will be out in 2021.
